Build your own benefits

You can now build custom benefits within the Shark platform. Below highlights a step-by-step guide of how this feature works:

Step 1 - After opening the benefits section within Shark, you can create a Custom Monthly Benefit inside any benefit suite by selecting the Add Monthly Benefit or Add One-Time Benefit buttons at the bottom of the suite. You can either use the pre-built calculator as you would have done before, or you can select the edit button (the pencil icon) to create a brand new calculator.

Step 2 - You will see an example of an input labelled ‘Monthly value’ with a money input. To edit this you need to click on the pencil icon which will open the benefit editor with all of the elements you can personalise. Once you're happy with the new input, select OK. Repeat this step for all of the various input and outputs of your calculation by selecting + Add a field.

The above shows how to create an input field, however creating an output field will need a formula:

Step 3 - Once all of the input and output fields have been defined, you will need to edit the formula for the Average Monthly Benefits field. To do this, hover over the field and select the pencil icon and the edit functionality will appear, now select Formula.

You’ve just designed your first benefit! Make sure you also add descriptive content to the Information about the Calculation section of the benefit, this will be key if the benefit is used again or shared with other users within your organisation.

Finally, select the following icon for more in-depth help files - this can be found at the bottom of the benefit or in the top right hand corner once the editing functionality is open:
