EXW - Ex Works

The buyer receives the goods on the seller's premises. 'Ex Works' thus requires the minimum obligation on behalf of the seller. The buyer bears all costs and risks involved in taking the goods from the seller's premises including the loading of the goods onto the chosen mode of transport. Should the buyer wish the seller to load the goods then the term can be modified to 'EXW loaded'.

The term should not be used if your buyer cannot clear the goods for export. FCA should then be used. In fact EXW is the only term that does not require the seller to clear the goods for export.
